Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always. Three irresistible short stories by the global phenomenon Ali Hazelwood, now available together in paperback for the first time, with an exclusive bonus chapter. I’ve never read the author before but I will absolutely look for more of her work.Three irresistible short stories by Ali Hazelwood the New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of TikTok sensation THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS, now available in paperback for the first time. (This is the only one I looked side-eyed at and felt was a bit too mansplaining- he saved her but had a good reason nonsense found in so many romance novels) The third is about a NASA scientist who falls for a guy who ends up almost derailing her project.

The second is an environmental architect who becomes smitten with a guy… who ends up being a potential corporate spy and saboteur. The first novella is about an environmental scientist who moves to DC for her dream job and ends up with a roommate from hell. The novellas are also chalk full of jargon, lingo, and just enough science to make you feel they are written by someone who knows their stuff or at least did a good amount of research. All of the stories are those classic meet-cute set ups and as romances you know exactly where they are going to end up, and yet, the author still manages to write tension into the stories just enough to make you second guess up until the last second. Each character felt complete and whole and the editing is razor sharp not letting anything superfluous add to the word count. All of the stories are told about women in STEM, all the women have unique interests, characteristics and descriptions. Longer than short stories, not complete books, and yet all perfectly complete. But I was flying and at the airport early and wanted something to read that wasn’t attached to a screen.

Every time I’ve tried to sink into a nice big book and get lost I’ve had to set it down and it feels like weeks later before I can pick it up again. My mind has been constantly bombarded by family drama, work drama, and society drama.

I haven’t been able to ‘get’ into any big books lately.
